IT & Cybersecurity Officer

We are now seeking an IT & Cybersecurity Officer to join our IT function. This role will suit an experienced IT professional who is keen to further develop their technical expertise and gain broader exposure to cybersecurity, ICT risk, and compliance within a regulated financial services environment.


The Role


The IT & Cybersecurity Officer will play a key role in the day-to-day operation and resilience of the credit union’s IT environment, while also supporting cybersecurity, ICT risk management, and regulatory compliance activities.


The role involves a hands-on operational focus, working closely with internal teams, external IT service providers, and management to ensure systems are secure, reliable, and fit for purpose.


The position offers involvement across a range of IT and technology initiatives and provides ongoing opportunities to develop experience in cybersecurity and regulated ICT governance.
The role requires a proactive individual with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.


Key Responsibilities:


Day-to-day support issues


• Provide front-line IT support, including user access, password management, PC, printer, scanner, and network support.
• Set up IT access, equipment, and systems for new staff as part of the induction process.
• Install, configure, and move workstations across the credit union’s branch network.
• Monitor IT equipment and identify items requiring repair or replacement.
• Carry out routine maintenance of servers, PCs, and software, including updates and basic troubleshooting.
• Assist with system patching, updates, and backups in line with agreed procedures.
• Administer user accounts, permissions, and access rights in accordance with security policies.
• Maintain accurate IT documentation, including procedures, asset registers, and troubleshooting guides.
• Escalate complex technical issues to external providers or management where required.

Cybersecurity, ICT Risk & Compliance:

• Support the operation of the credit union’s cybersecurity controls and protective measures.
• Maintain and update ICT asset registers, cybersecurity risk records, access logs, and incident records.
• Support compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, including GDPR, DORA, and Central Bank of Ireland ICT expectations.
• Assist with IT related audits, regulatory reviews, and inspections.
• Monitor endpoint security and patching status and report issues as required.
• Support firewall, VPN, and network security arrangements in collaboration with external providers.
• Assist with Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery arrangements, including preparation and testing.
• Support the secure management of data, system access, and backup processes.
• Contribute to IT and cybersecurity reporting for management and SMT meetings.


External Stakeholder Engagement:

• Oversee contracts and SLAs with third-party IT vendors, ensuring value and service quality.
• Work with vendors in relation to procurement and maintenance of IT assets.
• Helping assist a variety of different I.T. providers with support work they may need to be completed.


Training:


• Take ownership of the delivery of I.T. training to devise training that will help enable employees across the credit union to utilize the I.T. infrastructure in the credit union to its maximum capacity.
• Training on IT generally where applicable including safety briefing; updating staff on latest good practices.


Projects & Continuous Improvement:


• Support the delivery of IT and technology projects across Inishowen Credit Union.
• Assist with system upgrades, new implementations, and technology enhancements.
• Work with internal departments to understand operational needs and provide appropriate IT solutions.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of IT processes and controls.



Skills and Qualifications:


• A qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Strong understanding of server administration, infrastructure management, cybersecurity, and financial IT compliance.
• Experience with Windows systems and Microsoft 365.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse teams.
• Experience with hardware and software troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with IT security principles and best practices, Specifically, NIST, NIST2, ISO 27001 and DORA Frameworks.
• Solid knowledge of program processes, methodologies, and tools, as well as financial processes.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in IT management, ideally within financial services or CBI regulated environment.
• Ability to travel between branch offices as required – must have full clean driver’s licence and access to a car.
• Some participation in out-of-hours work can be expected, to facilitate the regular upkeep and maintenance of systems


This is a full-time position, and the salary will be commensurate with qualifications & relevant experience
